How long does breast milk stay fresh in the refrigerator?

Storing breast milk  after expressing Keep milk at room temperature. Breastmilk is OK for up to 4 hours after pumping at room temperature (up to 77°F or 25°c)  . Refrigerate it.  Breastmilk can be refrigerator for up to 4 days. Place milk in the freezer.  If you're not going to use refrigerated breastmilk within 4 days of pumping, freeze it right after pumping and w ithin 6 months is best. Store milk toward the back of the freezer where the temperature is most constant. Milk stored at 0°F or colder is safe for longer durations. Use cooler packs.  You can put breastmilk in a cooler or insulated cooler pack with frozen ice packs for up to 24 hours after pumping.

 Y ou will need to pump and store your breastmilk, for your baby if you are away for a few hours or when  you're going back to work. PUMPING TIPS Before you pump, wash your hands with soap and water. Make sure the area where you are pumping and your pump parts and bottles are clean.  Thoughts of your baby can help in Milk flow. ( If you look at a picture of your baby, listen to a recording of your baby's voice, or think about nursing your baby, it can help you relax and start your milk flow.) Common Breastfeeding Challenges

Breastfeeding can be challenging, especially in the early days. 1.Sore Nipples  In the early days of breastfeeding, sore nipples are almost always the result of incorrect positioning & latching of the baby. The best prevention for sore nipple is latching the baby on properly from the first day! Management Ensure proper positioning and attachment. The baby should be nursing from most of the areola (the darker colored area around the nipple) and the nipple.Your baby should not be suckling from just the nipple Express some milk at the end of a feed, spread it on your nipples & air-dry them.
