Hi guys,
If you are really confused what to pack in your hospital bag as a first time mom, then this is for you.
Some of us over pack while few of us under pack the essentials.
So, this is the complete package of what you really need to be ready to receive your baby.
And if you are worried when is the right time to get things ready…
Its ideal to get things ready when you are around 35 weeks of gestation.
If all goes according to the plan you don’t have to stay too long in hospital after delivery.
In India, the average stay for moms in hospital following delivery is approximately around 3 days depending on the mode of delivery.
Here you go…..
Mommie essentials
1.Nursing Gown – Pack cloths that is loose fitting and breathable.
If you are looking for nighties then can check
@Lacesandfrills or
Firstcry India or local textile store.
If you are not the night type of person then you can consider tops and dresses from
@the mom store, there are beautiful nursing Tops available online, which will help as going home outfit and further in the entire jouney of breast feeding when you go out.
2.Lingerie-
Nursing bra made feeding easy and comfortable… you can actually choose a brand which ever you are fine with…
Few brands like
@Inner sense and @Sonari does a good job..
you don’t have to look for expensive ones..the normal ones available at your reach will definitely solve the purpose.
Coming to Panty, I found disposable one are not any way useful to me… just make sure not to wear too tight.
Especially in case of caesarean section you need to get control type brief like @Firstcry. The hipster would hurt the wound line.
3.Nursing Pads- Helps in absorbing excess leakage of milk and prevents your clothes from soiling.
Disposable and reusable both are fine and choice is yours.Disposables ones from @Medela and @mee mee are good choice.
4.Nipple Cream- this is the must have for every new mom, as each of us will go through the sore and crack nipples especially at the start of breast feeding journey..
One cream that ease the pain and make breast feeding journey a comfortable one is undoubtedly. @Lansinoh available in amazon was true life saver in my case, its worth the money…get now and thank me later for suggesting this in particular.
5.Sanitary Pads- you can go with what ever u had been using, but preferably to go with extra large wing to compete the flow.
6.Nursing Pillow-please don’t hesitate to invest on one.. I highly recommend it for making feeding sessions comfortable for you and the baby as well..
@Babyhug pillow comes with back support and very useful..
You can also choose
U shaped Pillow without back support like one available from @Rabitat is very useful though.
Its multi-purpose use for making baby sit will be realised as your baby grows
7. Breast Pump- I just cant say how important it is to own one, be it manual or automatic.
one thing I never regret on investing.
@Avent manual is absolute good.
Later in a blog will discuss in detail about bits and pieces of pumping.
8.Toileteries
- Tooth Brush
- Tooth paste
- Bath towel
- Slippers
- Hair brush/comb
- Hair ties
- Hand wash
9.Blanket- If you dont like to use the blanket which they provide for you in the hospital, you can take your own blanket.
10.Belly Belt- In case of normal labour you will be advised to use immediately in couple of days after delivery, if you are post caesarean mom then you have to wait atleast for a week or until you wound heals. Do get advise from your doctor before wearing it.
👶Now the most excited part of packing things for your little one…
1.Diaper-
I personally used old cotton white dhoties as langots and disposed it off then and there.
You can straight away go for nappies and cloth diapers , which is undoubtedly the best for baby and mother earth as they are eco friendly…
My choice and high recommendation for super nappies and cloth diaper is @Superbottom
If you are not of cloth type then go for disposable diapers..my recommendation is @Pampers always.
2.Cotton towels
3.Receiving Blanket
5.Swaddling Blankets
6.Cotton dresses for day time and fully covered @Onesies or full pant and t-shirts for night time and
Mittens,socks and hats
7.Tissues and wipes- @ Mother Sparsh if you want water wipes. Otherwise @ Johnson and Johnson is the best with fragrance. All other wipes have sort of soap to it.
8.Lotion- I personally loved @ Aveeno ,it is really good and gives good moisturizer effect and doesn't leave any stickiness. It's working well.
or
@ Cetaphil is good and it is mild and very reliable for babies who have sensitive skin.
@ Sebamed is also good
9.Bodywash-@ Aveeno lavender
is good and gives mild fragrance.
👍 wishing for safe journey
